We are pleased to announce an important change in the leadership of Advances in Polar Science. Effective October 2024, Dr. Yeadong Kim from Republic of Korea will succeed Dr. Ad Huiskes from Netherlands as the co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal, alongside the current Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Huigen Yang.

Dr. Kim has a background in geology and geophysics with a PhD obtained at Louisiana State University, USA. His interests are in multichannel seismic, tectonics and Paleoclimate in the Northern Antarctic Peninsula. Dr. Kim is the former director of the Korean Polar Research Institute, and he served as SCAR President from 2021 to 2024. We look forward to the exciting new chapter under Dr. Kim’s leadership and are committed to maintaining the high standards of academic excellence.

We would also like to express heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ad Huiskes for his contributions during his tenure as Co-Editor-in-Chief from May 2021 to September 2024. Dr. Huiskes, a biologist from the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, has been instrumental in advancing the journal’s internationalization efforts. Under his leadership, Advances in Polar Science has expanded its global reach, strengthened its editorial board, and improved its academic standing.

Advances in Polar Science, established in 1990, is a quarterly publication under the joint sponsorship of the Polar Research Institute of China and Chinese Society for Oceanography. The journal is dedicated to disseminating advances and achievements in research related to polar regions. The journal is included in prestigious databases such as Scopus and Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD). Thank you for your continued support and interest in our journal!
