Advances in Polar Science (APS) is a quarterly open-access peer-reviewed journal sponsored by the Polar Research Institute of China and the Chinese Society for Oceanography.
APS is dedicated to presentation of multi-disciplinary achievements in Arctic and Antarctic research. The primary objective of APS is to publish achievements in fundamental research, applied research and high-technology research focused or based on the polar region, and to report the latest discoveries, inventions, theories and methodologies in polar research.
The scope of the APS includes, but not limited to, the following areas:
● Antarctic astronomy/meteoritics
● atmospheric science/climatology
● biology and ecology
● cryospheric science/glaciology
● environmental science
● geochemistry
● geology
● geophysics/seismology
● humanities and social sciences
● oceanography/sea ice study
● paleontology
● polar engineering
● remote sensing and mapping
● space and upper atmosphere physics
APS also publishes occasional “Special Issues” on specific polar research themes, like proceedings of an Antarctic/Arctic meeting, the special research theme for an Antarctic/Arctic cruise, or the research outcomes of a polar scientific program.
